My name is Lou, and I'm a French traveller at the other end of my world, in Australia. Passionate about books and writing, currently working on a novel, I'm taking the plunge to do what I love: learning French and its literature online to pass on what I love more than anything and continue learning in a different way.
A French literature teacher in a foreign language for English speakers of all levels and profiles, I speak English and specialise in storytelling and writing workshops, trained and with experience, I help you discover/rediscover French around books and culture, through the pleasure of reading and writing, for curiosity about others, elsewhere and yourself.
As a globetrotter, I'm familiar with this fever for discovery and this burning desire to learn, to discover more and more about the world! And because discovering other people and other places also involves discovering language, I was and am like you, a foreign language learner, with the same blocks, the same desire and ultimately the same needs.
Today, I speak English and offer you tailor-made, progressive and comprehensive courses that I myself would have liked to have received to learn your language, as someone who is passionate about books. You'll be able to work on your oral and written comprehension as well as your expression, and build up the necessary language skills according to your needs (grammar, conjugation, vocabulary, literary processes, etc.), all while discovering French culture, its literary monuments and its contemporaries, and developing your own writing skills, even in a foreign language.
So join me on a new adventure and plunge into the endless world of words...
My experiences :
Volunteer for nearly a year as a book ambassador in primary schools with the sole aim of passing on a taste for books and culture to children. Thanks to this voluntary work, I've had the great opportunity to learn not only how to teach, but also how to read, for example, in preparation for professional reading courses. I develop new strategies that maximise your learning through enthusiasm.
I've given a few personal group support classes to university students in French. I've coached real estate teams for almost a year, and in fact, I know how to get to the heart of the matter and refocus my learning on the needs of each individual, thanks to deep, caring listening, with a view to helping you progress, with a view to pushing you ever further, to speak, read and write the language of Victor Hugo!
My methodology:
I offer lessons based around books and culture, suitable for all levels (even beginners) and all profiles (even children), broken down into three stages:
1. A reading of a text and oral feedback on written comprehension.
2. A technical point on language concepts such as grammar, conjugation, vocabulary, or a literary point;
3. And finally a creative writing workshop, inspired by the book "Ecrire, un plaisir à la portée de tous", by Faly Stachak.
Depending on what you want, I can offer reading-only or writing-only classes, interspersed with technical points to suit your needs.
I will use various books and manuals, but mainly : "French Short Stories for beginners : Level 1" by Faure Adalyn and the novel "No et moi" by Delphine de Vigan for beginners. For intermediate and advanced levels, the book: "Passeport pour la littérature" by Paule Arnoux and contemporary extracts from literary novels, a bibliography of which is available in the shared drive. For children, I offer picture books and the famous saga of "Petit Nicolas". My book for writing workshops, and finally a Bescherelle.
You'll have access to a whole range of resources on a shared drive, including : your personal objective sheet, a list of suggested books (with online purchase links and publishing names) for independent reading, as well as others for pure learning, a sheet containing podcasts and radio stations to listen to, TV programmes and series about books and culture, all the lessons added as you go along, all the technical sheets seen in lessons and their corresponding exercises, vocabulary lists on quizlet, advice on learning, and links to sites to consult to make further progress, such as : "the Voltaire project, for example
By joining my classes, you'll be able to:
- Enjoy productive learning sessions with a native speaker who is passionate about her own language, caring, a good listener and curious about her fellow human beings, who wants nothing more than for you to fulfil your potential!
- Progress in all areas of the language: written and oral expression and comprehension.
- Access to my library, available during our meetings, with lots of suggestions for filling yours!
- Meet your own voice through your pen, even in a foreign language, thanks to creative writing workshops.
- Finally, take advantage of free professional readings to immerse yourself in the language in a relaxed way.
Be supported in your learning of French, thanks to a complete and well-thought-out learning structure, a caring and highly successful pedagogy that will enable you to gradually learn the language of Victor Hugo, spoken, read and written, all with pleasure, even in a foreign language. Don't try any more, just do it.
