My name is Claudia Amendola and I am an Ontario Certified Teacher working as a Secondary English Teacher in the
Greater Toronto Area of Canada. I am currently employed in the Alternative Education Program where I am working with
an expelled student, one-on-one. Prior to this role I have experience in the Special Education department working with
highly exceptional students, many with particular learning disabilities or high needs.
My love and expertise in the English language is also demonstrated through my own writing. I run a blog and I
recently put together my own company which specializes in editing business documents, assisting professionals in their English communication, and improving the writing skills of business professionals. I have experience running workshops for professionals, writing professionally for my school board,
colleagues, facilitating professional development days, and I’ve also written, edited, and recorded a podcast for the world renowned Ted Talks.
I have recently been given the role of Special Education Resource Teacher (administrative role in Special Education in a
Secondary school) beginning in September 2019 for my board, but due to my French National boyfriend being transferred
for work, I am moving to Strasbourg on June I have been working with my board for eight years, only taking a
short break to teach English overseas in Paris, France on a work/holiday Visa; this Visa is still valid until August 2019
and I am currently in the process of a renewal for this Visa which has a multi-renewal status (appointment booked for May
31st).
I am thoroughly devoted to teaching and I am always committed to growing and learning within the school community. I
feel as though every student has the potential to succeed and I know that my modern teaching approach which includes
leadership that emphasizes inquiry, learning through discovery and self-assessment,and ensures all differentiated needs
are met will help reach every learner. My intent is that each student leaves the classroom a better version of themselves
than when they entered, and my role as an educator is not fulfilled unless that student goal is met, daily.
Having worked in education for over eight years, I am skilled in classroom management and lesson planning, along with
data collection and long-term planning for success. Working in the Special Education and Alternative Education
department, I understand the specialized needs of individuals and the importance of organization and communication.
Special Education is an avenue of education that thrives on collaboration and consultation, and the fact that I've been
trusted with an administrative role this early in my educational career demonstrates the positive growth and value I add to
organizations I work for.
I am also a graduate student enrolled in my second year of a Masters of Library and Information Studies through the
University of Alberta. I have extensive knowledge of government data, curation and archival of resources and information,
and leadership in a Librarianship field. Coupled with my experience in education, especially through Language and
Literature studies, I feel I bring a lot of leading-edge learning to the classrooms I oversee.
Please have a look at my Ontario College of Teacher's page at
() where you will notice I am certified with numerous
additional qualifications. Should you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to
hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
